Tzedek Chicago and Jewish Museum Chicago are thrilled to celebrate the publication of the new book As We Speak These Words: Poems, Prayers & Art for a Liberated World in a multi-part event with a reading, performance, art exhibition, workshop and vendors. Combining over thirty prayers and poems by Rabbi Brant Rosen with art and illustrations by Rabbi Lynn Gottlieb, this new collection is inspired by the radical movements throughout history that have mobilized prayerful, artistic creativity in service of justice and liberation. Described by Jewish Voice for Peace Executive Director Stefanie Fox as "a profound and precious offering to anti-Zionist Jewish life and organizing," As We Speak These Words is at once a subversive Jewish prayer book, a contemporary illuminated manuscript, and a spiritual/political call to action.
This very special launch program will incorporate performance, art exhibition and vendors, book signing, and an art/poetry workshop. Please join us as we celebrate prayerful artistic creativity in service of justice and liberation!
