Update from the Rabbinic Search Committee

5/08/25

Dear Tzedek community,

Thanks so much for your patience as we have been getting this rabbinic search process going! We apologize for the delay in updating you all, following the February member meeting.

For the past few months, our committee has been doing a lot of the preliminary work needed to launch this search. We have been researching other synagogues’ methods of searching for new rabbis, exploring the types of relevant education and experience required for rabbinic candidates, clarifying how our rabbinic search might be similar or different from that of other synagogues, and determining the roles and benchmarks necessary to carry out this process. We have put together a detailed timeline of important dates and deadlines and created working groups to hold different parts of the process. We’ve also clarified budget priorities for both the hiring process and the role itself. Additionally, we have been reviewing the input we’ve received from the congregation so far and are planning ways to gather additional input.

We are feeling energized and excited as we move forward with this work. Please feel free to reach out to us at any time with feedback or input you would like to share at rabbisearch@tzedekchicago.org.

Sincerely,

Tzedek Chicago’s Rabbinic Search Committee
