Passover as Collective Liberation: Seder Readings for Passover 5785

Tzedek Chicago is proud to present our seder supplement for Passover 5785: Passover as Collective Liberation

According to the Exodus narrative, Pharaoh amasses power through fear: by dehumanizing a vulnerable group and targeting it with state violence. In this terrifying political moment, in which we are witnessing the growth of fascism in the US and abroad, Passover arrives with a special urgency - and a sacred opportunity.

As we note in our opening reading: "If we fail to understand the Exodus narrative in the context of collective liberation - we will not have fulfilled the requirements of the Passover seder." We hope these readings will deepen the sacred meaning of your Pesach seder - and inspire us all to make the lessons of the Exodus story real in our own day.
