Meet Our High Holiday Service Leaders

RABBI BRANT ROSEN (he/him) | Rabbi Brant is Tzedek Chicago’s founding Rabbi. Learn more about Rabbi Brant here.
ADAM GOTTLIEB (they/them/elle) | Adam is a musician, poet, teaching artist, and organizer from Chicago. As a cultural worker, they use music and poetry to bring people together around struggles for basic human needs, and a vision of a cooperative world. They have served Tzedek Chicago as Cantorial Soloist since 2016, and in 2023 co-founded Songs for Liberation (originally Songs for Ceasefire) Protest Music Collective. They are currently enrolled in Rabbi Lynn Gottlieb's Shomeret Shalom collaborative for ordination in revolutionary Jewish nonviolence. They will be coordinating liturgical music as part of the clergy team for High Holidays.
ETHAN ARONSON (he/they) | Ethan is a Jewish prayer leader, musician, and organizer. They work as the faith organizer at the worker justice organization Arise Chicago and co-founded the Chicago area havurah Higaleh Nah. They have led High Holiday services at synagogues across the country for over ten years.
HANNAH MIRA FRIEDLAND (she/her) | Hannah is a Jewish prayer leader, klezmer and Celtic fiddler, violist, Yiddish dance leader, and cultural worker in Chicago. Committed to fostering welcoming, diverse, rich spaces for traditional music, dance, storytelling, and connection, Hannah Mira is co-founder of the Upshtat Zingerai Klezmer Band and has produced and performed for tantshoyzer (klezmer dance parties) and klezmer concerts with Tzedek Chicago, the Chicago Humanities Festival, Jewish Museum of Chicago, JCUA, for purim-speils, and other community gatherings. She also performs in the Maxwell Street Klezmer Band and the Evanston Symphony Orchestra, and collaborates with visual and movement artists, providing improvised musical accompaniment. She has studied hazzanut with Cantor Howard Friedland and Rabbi Barry Cytron, and looks forward to serving as hazzanit and an instrumentalist with Tzedek Chicago during the upcoming High Holy Days.
STEVE GIBONS (he/him) | Jazz violinist Steve Gibons plays American Jazz and Blues, Klezmer music, and Roma music from the Balkans and the Middle East. He can be heard on a variety of rock, jazz and blues tracks, including the Grammy-nominated Blues album Muddy Waters 100 (Raisin Music Records). He has been a part of the Tzedek Chicago High Holiday services since its inception in 2015.
